Word Chicks

Are you a Christian woman who communicates through the written or spoken word? Then you, my friend, are a Word Chick, and I want to pray for you. Let me explain.

Recently I felt the Lord tell me to sow seeds of prayer for my sisters in Christ who are writers and speakers. So I began praying for a fellow blogger friend who is a writer. A few weeks later, I prayed for someone else. Then God put yet another woman on my heart for prayer. Are you sensing a trend here?

You see, I'm believing God for big things for not only myself, but for you. By big things I mean more published articles, more speaking engagements, even books accepted for publication. And why not dream big? I believe we should attempt great things for God, and expect great things from God. John 15:8 says, "When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father in heaven is glorified; and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Me."

In addition, praying for other women writers and speakers enables me to stand against the ugly temptation of feeling competitive (just keeping it real here). As I resist that temptation, I purpose in my heart to bless my sister through prayer, and ask God help her succeed. The truth is, when any one of us succeeds, we are advancing God's kingdom. And that, my friends, is what our writing and speaking is ultimately all about.

Initially when I stepped out I felt reluctant to ask the Lord for success. But at a writer's conference, Jim Watkins explained that without "ME" there is no MEssage. We each have messages that can reach specific people, and unless God grants us success in the arenas of publishing and speaking engagements, people won't hear the message. I'm not implying that we will all write best-selling novels. Our spheres of influence vary. But whether we teach a community Bible study or have a TV talk show, the point is to fulfill our callings and destinies in Christ.

Could your writing and speaking pursuit use reinforcement? It would be my privilege to pray for you! To become an honorary Word Chick and receive specific prayer for your writing and/or speaking, please e-mail me at: grammyblogspot7@yahoo.com . Every Word Chick is encouraged to pray as well, though it is not required. I am committed to praying for fellow Word Chicks' success, and will send out occasional newsletter as the Lord leads me.

You can copy the code for my Word Chicks button over on my side-bar, if you're interested in sharing it on your blog! Thank you!

Thank you so much for praying for me last week. It was a terrible week when I was heavy hearted and couldn't even write - and then to hear God had put me on your heart. PRAISE HIM! Your timing was perfect.

You are an amazing woman! Thank you, Julie.

(I don't know how to make buttons etiher, but if you get one, I'll happily post it on my blog!)

I had a comment ready to send and my computer screen blacked out! Someone doesn't want me to sign up to be a Word Chick, but I am a chic of the speaker variety. I believe this is a divinely inspired idea. How awesome Julie! I was thinking about you yesterday and our encounter at She Speaks. I was praying for you then and I would love to also pray for you now and any other Word Chicks. I already pray for many bloggy friends. Sorry I am not technical to make a button. I am slowing catching on to more blogging stuff! I am believing for a harvest crop of fruit too with prayer on the www. Thanks girl!

I'm in on this, Julie!
This is a great way to support one another. Even though we, Word Chicks, may have a lot in common, our experiences always make us unique. Thus we each - writers, speakers, teachers - have a unique area of influence.
As soon as the button is available, I'll post it on my blog.
I consider myself first a teacher then speaker then writer.
Great God idea!

Yes, I want to be a word chick! Pray for me, please. I can't tell you what that would mean to me. I love to pray for others, so I will endeavor to do so for other word chicks, especially as it pertains to writing and speaking. I'm afraid I've lost some hope for ever getting published and am considering self-publishing at this point. Alas, the $ is not yet available, so I will continue to write and wait and trust. I am also speaking to a group of women in a couple of weeks about an hour from here and would appreciate your prayers. Also, Esther study starts Tuesday night, and I've got miles to go before I sleep on this one.

How's that for shamelessly heeding your invite? Let me know when the button is ready.

This post speaks straight to my heart as a writer/speaker. I am challenged to continue to pray for others with the same calling. This is a great reminder of the fact that together we are making our mark for Christ!

Julie,
Thank you for your prayers! I'm praying for you, too. Us Word Chicks need to stick together. :-)

Isn't it cool (aka Isn't God awesome) that we've carved out a little corner of this ginormous blogosphere to gather as friends, writers and sisters in Christ.

Wouldn't it be really amazing to have a Word Chick gathering where we can get together face-to-face, talk about writing and chat into the wee hours?! Food for thought...

Have a great week!
Blessings,
Kelli

P.S. I am fairly techno-competent, so if your button design falls through, let me know.

Ooooh, Kelli Girl, I LOVE your idea of a Word Chicks gathering! What a blast that would be! I have visions of comfy p.j.'s, chocolate and popcorn and lots of laughter...and good prayer times. Guess I've got one more thing to pray for...

I wanna be an honorary, prayed-for work chick!
thanks!
I'd like prayer for somehow making the transition from professional BUSINESS writing to CHRISTIAN writing where the topics are eternal.

See...I accidently said "work chick" instead of "word chick!" SEE why I need prayer? All I think about is WORK!!!

Hi Julie,

This is so wonderful! I know I need lots of prayer and I think we all do as we pursue God's purposes for our lives and bless others through our actions! So, yes, I'm on board as a word chick!!

I would love to be prayed for Julie and to pray for others.

One of my friends asked me last week if I would consider speaking at their women's retreat. She had been reading my blog and knew that I led bible studies in my church. For some reason, speaking in a large group terrifies me. I immediately told her she needed to find someone more qualified and I would be happy to give her suggestions. I know I sell myself short and need some serious prayer. I don't want to miss out if God is calling me to more than just random posts on a blog.

Look at all the Word Chicks! We all need prayer to do this. Lord, we want to serve you. As we delight in you, I know you will give us the desires of our heart. I believe the word chicks want to overflow with YOUR PRESENCE in our lives. Help us ministry in written and spoken words to those all around us. Lord if nobody official is asking for our words, help us see where we can share our words in a different way. Please bless these chicks with a greater measure of faith. You have called all of us. We want to make much of you Jesus. I ask a special touch on Julie as she lifts up the word chicks Lord. I pray all her dreams come true. You are her Dream Giver. In your name, Jesus, Name above all names. B

Nice URL you got there.

(As in... www.JulieGillies.com)

Here's a geek moment: did you know that URL stands for "Uniform Resource Locator." i.e. your web address.

Congrats!
