She Speaks, She Meets, She Goes to Urgent Care

I flew in to Charlotte a day early for the She Speaks conference - to get my bearings, practice my messages for evaluation, and just rest up.

And, apparently, to make a Friday night detour to the local Urgent Care center. Because heaven knows there is simply not enough excitment in hugging blogging friends for the first time, attending inspiration-filled sessions, and meeting with publishers and agents.

Thank God for a new friend who just happened to know the location of the Urgent Care, in spite of having arrived only the day before. She raced to her room for her keys, since it was 5:45 p.m., and the center closed at 6 p.m. sharp.

After seeing the doctor, who pulled out the big guns and got my pain situation under control, I went back to my room to doze, thereby missing the opening session and chocolate lava cakes.

I hate that part. Cuz I'm nothing if not a chocolate lover.

I can tell you that despite being waylaid, God was in control. My roomie, Susie , and the women at Proverbs 31 Ministries blessed me with prayer and lots of TLC.

In spite of my little detour, or perhaps because of it, God met me in a profound way. His presence comforted and assured me in what turned out to be a scary situation. The way of obedience is not always easy. Sometimes instead of a well-paved street I find a toll road. And though it costs me, I keep on keeping on...by His grace.

She Speaks impacted me in a personal way. The P31 women are transparent and humble -they shared God's love by sharing their hearts. And really, that's what it's all about.

Roomies! Susie and I. For the record, Susie has a heart of gold.

Susie, Me and Lynn - she roomed with us the first night...and I'm so glad we met!
