A Stable Influence

If only our lives were always wonderful.  Peaceful. Perfect.

But they’re not.

Kids act up. Cars break down. And sometimes our marriage, a friendship, or some unforeseen situation we’d rather not deal with makes our hearts cringe.

Yes, life can be rocky and overwhelming.

Yet over 2,000 years ago Jesus left heaven to visit earth—where overwhelming sitautions, kids acting up, and cringeworthy moments are sometimes our normal.

The good news is He is Immanuel— God with us. When our hearts ache and issues are splashing down around us like a Texas downpour, He remains Immanuel—God with us.
When our footing feels unstable, He is our Rock. He is with us through heartache, when our kids act up and during our eye-bulging moments.

The mere thought makes me shiver with wonder: Jesus left the perfect place to be near imperfect people living in a far from perfect world. He rested in a stable so we could experience stable rest. Amazing.

Immanuel, God with us, is still near. And it’s this, His very presence, that equips us with His peace, strength, and eternal stability that can never be shaken.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful reminder that His presence heals our cringing hearts. In our less than perfectly peacefully lives I'm comforted by His peace.
