Here’s what a couple of people are saying about From Hot Mess to Blessed:
If you’ve ever thought you were too messed up to do anything important for God, read this book. Julie Gillies writes with vulnerability, honesty, and with a deep commitment to helping women find answers in God’s Word. If life has thrown you a few curves and you’ve wondered how to move forward with confident faith and renewed joy, this is the book for you. Read it for yourself and then take a group of friends through it. The study questions for each chapter will take you deeper into God’s truth and the list of scriptures at the end will give you solid footing for a life of blessing! I highly recommend this book! –Carol Kent, Speaker and Author, When I Lay My Isaac Down (NavPress)
Julie Gillies writes in the fullness of grace and truth, and offers hope for any one wondering if they are too much of a mess for God to bother with. In From Hot Mess to Blessed, Julie peels back the lies to get to our hearts’ greatest needs – and then introduces us to the One who can meet them completely. If I could put this book in the hands of every woman, I would. I would look her in the eyes and say “Read this, believe it and keep it handy for the rest of your life!”–Glynnis Whitwer, Author of 10 books, including Doing Busy Better, Exec Director of Communications Proverbs 31 Ministries

God has promised me that He will NEVER leave me.
We are all a "hot mess"....and we are ALL "blessed"!! Can't wait to read this book and share it with all of my friends!!! (awesome3@aol.com)
God will strengthen me, uphold me, be my refuge and shelter, He will meet ALL my needs He will never leave me or forsake me and He wants to bless me. He will satisfy all my longings and desires and He has the very best plan for my life.
The Lord will lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations (my entire household) on those who love Me and obey My commands.
(Exodus 20:6)
He promised to never leave me. But what amazes me most is that He knew me and the kind of person I would be, that I would mess up time and time again, and He still loves me!!
God loves me even when I fail!
God will never leave me nor forsake me!!!
Thank you for your many words of encouragement. kbak4rgv@gmail.com

INSPIRATIONAL!! 😇
2 Tim 1:7 "For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." That promise of a sound mind is one I cling to on my hot mess days! learnwithem@gmail.com
How wonderful! God can do and has done exceedingly beyond what you and I can imagine. Susan(at)susanpanzica(dot)com
The Lord has been speaking to me about something for several years and while I agree with Him, I always seem overwhelmed and unable to do what He is asking me to do; it has been a journey and I have been learning all along the way and it just seems it has taken me every bit of every minute to finally get it....I'm on my way, and I know He loves me in spite of myself. Praises to MY Lord and Savior.

Dear Julie: Congratulations on your new book! God has been telling me, from Luke 3:5, that every crooked path will be made straight. This encourages me to not throw myself across the bed and sob in despair when circumstances don't line up--yet--with His word. He WILL make the bent places straight, eventually.
With grace,

Oh it sounds so intriguing. I am super curious to find out what is inside your book :)
I feel that out of recent promises God told me that he will stabilizing my role at work (it's been a drama of several years now and I got to the point that I know it's only God who will be able to give me victory considering the opposition and circumstances). I am holding my breath to see how it plays out and if I understood His promise correctly, while a bit afraid to fully hope.

Your book sounds amazing! When I was going through my divorce, the Lord assured me He had great plans for me Jeremiah 29:11. I had no idea where I was going to live and how to make ends meet - but He is faithful and has blessed me beyond measure! The other scripture is Jeremiah 29:13 as long as I seek Him with my whole heart - I will find Him. Two awesome scriptures full of promises! Thanks so much. Cherie K. bck4045@hotmail.com
No matter what is happening in my life I have the promise of eternal life through Christ Jesus. I am looking forward to reading this book. Deb V.

My mom just forwarded me an email with the Proverbs 31 Woman devotional featuring your post. And I just cried. The promise that the Lord has given me was from Exodus 1:21 where God promises The Midwives who have helped birth children for others, that he would give them a home of their own. Our loving heavenly father has used me as a sort of prayer midwife in helping other weary women give birth to their dreams. Especially those desiring to be married, and also those who are married and were struggling with infertility. And now, hope deferred is making me heartsick. I know that when the desire comes true, it will be a tree of life. And so I don't just cling to the promise, but to the Lord Jesus himself.
Through every difficulty, God has walked with me, carried me or dragged me through it. He never leaves me or forsakes me. ♡
God's promise to me is found in Isaiah 41:10:
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
I enjoyed your devotion and would love to win your book. Thank you!

Thank you Julie. I enjoyed your devotion this morning. Normally I ready when I have time but this morning I felt that I needed to read your devotion and blog. I have always loved how God guides me to different things to read was needed and today was no different. Only the Lord knows that my life is a major hot mess and your devotion was needed today. God Bless.

What a hot mess I am, but I know God is not done with me yet. When I was unfaithful to my husband and I told him about it I was struggling real bad emotionally. I cried out to God..."This is not who I want to be or made to be! I hate that I did this!" I was even starting to hate myself. God promised me that He loves me unconditionally. He sees beauty. He reassured me that's not who I was. He gave me my wonderful husband who I am still happily married to - who loves me as Christ loves the church.... I am blessed...and He's working on this hot mess!

I am in control and have a plan for your children's lives. This is God's promise to me. I have been a hot mess several times in need for my sons. And I am wonderfully blessed and anxiously excitedly waiting for what He has in store!!
patriciaaison@yahoo.com
I so needed this today. I feel God has called me to change my career. I am not what you would call the typical teacher type. I have a lot of personality quirks. I don't have the money for school. I would have to quit a perfectly good job. I tell myself all these things as sort of a test whether this calling is real. I believe in it but find it hard to believe in myself. Often times when something is beyond human accomplishment, it is truly from God. besides, what glory does God get if it were something we could do on our own?
Thanks for your list of verses with God's promises. Just what I needed to read this morning. elizabethmbird@gmail.com
Hi Julie,
Congratulations on your new book!! I really needed this devotional this morning. It was a faith encourager. The promise I cling to is Psalm 34:5 - "Those who look to Him are radiant, and their faces are not ashamed." I am trusting God to make me a confident. joyful woman who draws others to Christ. My email is prov31_kdc@yahoo.com. I hope I win a copy of your new book.
What a wonderful resource this would be. I am definitely a "hot mess" right now & everything is suffering. This would be incredibly helpful. Cjsamonds@bellsouth.net
I love the name of your new book! I'm always referring to myself as a "hot mess"!
daddiesbabe04@yahoo.com
Not that I would ever compare myself to the apostle Paul, but when we are "hot messes" we need to remember Paul's thorn and God's Grace noted in 2 Corinthians 12:8-10. "Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong...", we all face challenges and become "hot messes". However, when we can take our eyes off our own situation and look to God to lead us, we realize the things we face are to grow our faith and teach us as well as others. My constant companion in life is Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a disease for which there is currently no cure. While it is not the companion I would have chosen, God has used it time and time again to teach me, humble me, and yes, strengthen me. I have never cried about my diagnosis, because I have always known God is always there caring for His children. Yes, I've been frustrated, worried and even scared. But, on the day I was diagnosed I promised God that if He would keep me going and allow me to remain productive I would not give up, continue to work, continue to serve and use my new found companion to witness to others and do my best to bring Him glory. Thus far, I have been blessed to have kept this promise even on days when I am most certainly a "hot mess". I joke that during my "hot messes" God is refining me much like the fire that burns away impurities to make something precious. I love Hawk Nelson's song "Diamonds". In the fire, over my head, under pressure, crushed by love, not what I hoped for - it's something much better, refining in His timing...God is indeed making diamonds out of us - "hot messes" and all! Can't wait to read your book. (lvnlife03@comcast.net)
This morning I was praying to God about upcoming life changes that have become scarier because of $5,000 worth of unexpected medical expenses at the most difficult of times. Your words today were exactly what I needed to be reminded of, and my soul is soothed. God is so big!

That no matter what, he loves me and will never leave me. Through all my human error, he still loves me. leslierose @ gmail . com (no spaces)
I am recovering from an unspeakable childhood and when I came across your blog speaking about when hard things keep happening it spoke to my heart. I can't wait to see how God works this all out for good. In fact all seven points deal with my situation. I can't wait to be able to put this pain behind me and hopefully see the good in it all. Thank you

Exactly what I needed today. Reminds me of the faith I had growing up.... which faded away with life's many challenges. Hoping to get that faith and connection to God again.
A promise God had given me is adoption of a sweet little girl He wants me to name Harvest. Though in a mess coming out of college debt even though college literally saved my life because that's where for the first time I had a real encounter with the love of the lord it sometimes is hard to believe but is a promise I cling to.

I need to remember that I'm blessed EVEN WHEN I'm a hot mess!
Sometimes it is hard to think past my hot mess to see the blessings that are right there in my face. I am always in need of a reminder that there are still blessings when I am a hot mess!
