Q: Why is mouth control so hard? A: Because we’re human.
Years ago I stood in the grocery aisle watching a deaf, mute
woman have an absolute fit of rage. She could not speak a word, but the fury
coming out of her fingers (and heart) taught me something that day: What spills
out of our mouths reveals what is in our hearts.
May God have mercy on my soul. There are days and then there
are one of those days. And every time
I slip, I not only ask for forgiveness, but for the Lord to clean and transform
my heart.
LET’S PRAY:
Lord, please
change and fill my heart so that what comes out of my mouth honors You and
encourages those around me. Give me a clean heart that is filled with and
controlled by Your Spirit. Teach me to be a wise overseer of my mouth, so that
when I am tempted to lash out, I can either answer with a soft word ore remain
silent. Help me to speak encouraging words of life and truth to those around
me. May the words I speak always be a blessing to all who hear them. In Jesus’s
name, Amen.
