Quitting is a tempting option when life is hard; giving up is
easy. And yet Scripture tells us that if we will not grow weary in well doing,
we will in fact reap at the appointed time.
And that’s the rub. The appointed time is not always our idea
of the right time (anyone else feel the same way?). Waiting is hard. Waiting
with a good attitude, with our eyes focused on Jesus? Let’s just say that for
me, some days are better than others. And yet this verse is a promise our
hearts desperately need.
And so we will pray, asking the Lord to give us great grace
so we can keep on doing the right thing without growing weary. Whatever you’re
enduring? Take heart. God is always with us, He is sovereign, and He is
faithfully at work behind the scenes.
This is our hope.
LET’S PRAY:
Lord, I choose to be a woman who perseveres, not a
woman who gives up. I will not lose heart or grow weary in well-doing. Help me
to keep my focus on You, Lord. Help me to continue to trust You and believe
You. Send glimmers of hope to my heart, divine assurances that You are at work
behind the scenes. By Your grace I am determined to persevere and will keep standing.
Thank you that as I do this, I will reap
a good harvest at the appointed time. In the strong name of Jesus, Amen.
