I truly don’t know a woman alive who doesn’t wrestle with
guilt. And yet we don’t have to remain stuck in that place. We all stumble and
fall (see James 3:2), and we all fall short. Yet when we miss the mark we can
humble our hearts, approach the Lord, and ask Him to forgive and cleanse us. He
will.
Yes, it really is that simple.
When the enemy or our own disappointment in ourselves makes
us cringe under the heavy weight of guilt, we would do well to remember that
because of the finished work of the cross, we are completely forgiven! Guilt is
optional. (Let’s leave that option at the curb, agreed?)
“Yet now he has
reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As
a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and
blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” (Colossians
1:22-23)
LET’S PRAY:
Lord,
when guilt hammers against my heart help me to remember the cross. The truth is
I don’t measure up, but Christ measures up for me. Because of the finished work
of the cross I can confess my sin to You, be forgiven, and be completely
cleansed of all unrighteousness. Because of what Jesus accomplished, I stand
before You holy and blameless, without a single fault. Give me grace to
continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly. I can only do this by
Your grace. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.
