What We Think About Steers Our Lives #CalmHeart

"Stop reading the headlines while you chew your toast." It had been my routine for years, but that morning, I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to put down my device and read my Bible during breakfast, instead of after.

For years I had read the news first thing, but I began to see that starting my day with the news is no longer in my best interest. What I read first sets the tone for the rest of the day, and the simple change of Scripture first has yielded beautiful peace that lasts all day.

LET'S PRAY:

Lord, will you please show me any changes I need to make concerning what I read, watch, or think? Please help me to make the necessary adjustments in my life so that Your Word is a priority. As I do this, please help me to prevent my thoughts from veering in bad directions that foster anxiety. May I be alert to Your tender nudges to adjust my thinking and steer my mind in a healthy direction. Thank you that as I fix my thoughts afresh onto truth and focus on lovely, excellent things, my heart is re-calibrated, anxiety diminishes, and my mind is filled with hope, light, truth, and peace. In Jesus’s name, amen.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8
