God's Love at Gate C-16

The Atlanta airport is as busy as Rockefeller Center after a December snow. Multitudes of people rush in various directions, all with the goal of reaching their flights on time.

Families march by in tandem, carrying prized blankies and pushing strollers. Business men hurry past, grey jackets flapping behind them. A beeping cart carries the elderly and frail, parting the crowd as it glides forward. A flight attendant in stiletto heels sashays next to a middle-aged woman wearing Hush Puppies.

Old and young, large and small, chic and frumpy they pass.

The music on my ipod creates a poignancy that I'm certain wouldn't otherwise exist. As the song "Mighty to Save" begins, my heart swells.

Everyone needs compassion
A love that's never failing...

And suddenly my perspective changes. God's love bursts through the words of the song and my eyes see the same scene - through His eyes of love.

Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations

And I am stunned by the realization that every one of these people are God's precious children. He knows them. He yearns for them. He loves them.

He loves every single one.

Tears swell, and I begin to pray. I am overcome by God's presence in the midst of Terminal C. Overcome by His loving kindness, and His desire for every one of His children to know their real Father.

"Lord", I pray, " Touch every person in this airport, God, with the personal experience of your great love."

Eventually the song ends, and it's time to board the plane. As I settle into my seat. I am grateful that the Lord allowed me to understand a fraction of His sweeping love - if only for a moment.

And I am thankful that my God is indeed Mighty to Save.

Julie,
I love how God works. I was planning to pull out my original email list for the evaluation group and send you a note today. But, you had already stopped by my blog. Thank you so much. I have continued to pray for your complete recovery. How are things coming along? We so missed you in the evaluation group. All of the ladies prayed for you too. I love your blog.
Blessings,
Charlene
